Okay y'all. Meeting for November? Locations? Anyone care to give me ideas before I post to the Con list and get everyone in a flamewar about locations again?

EXT2/3 on win32? [Aug. 10th, 2005|04:50 pm]

[mood |working]
[music |Rage Against The Machine - Calm Like A Bomb]

Apparently, there is an EXT2/3 driver for the win32 platform (well, NT4/2K/XP).
Bout damn time, says I.

And since it is a kernel mode driver, well, yay. Access across the board!

I have some FAT32 formatted partitons for my shared data, since NTFS writing using the 2.6.x linux kernel is still a bit shaky.
Reading, great. Writing? Not so much.

Ah, almost forgot: Ext2 IFS For Windows.
Be kinda dumb to write about this and not link up.
Just installed. Not even a reboot required. Swank.

My book blog: The history of sex in video games [Jan. 31st, 2005|06:45 pm]

Hey guys,

As some of you know (and definitely know if you've met me - it's like the second thing out of my mouth), I'm working on my first book on the history of sex in video games. I've been going at it for about eight months and having a great time.

However, I know all this information and history I'm finding isn't going to make it into the book (can we say "encyclopedia"), so I've started a blog:

I plan on posting at least once a week with funny stories I find, opinions on related games and hopefully things that will give insight into the publishing process. It's been a wild ride so far, and in "book time" I'm just starting out, so I can only imagine what the next couple of years will be like.

I hope you guys can join in on the fun.

Mozilla Release Party [Oct. 23rd, 2004|04:58 pm]
My roommate and I are relatively new to New Orleans, and don't know a whole lot of Linux or FS buffs, but figured we'd drop our suggestion for a Mozilla party at La Fee Verte. Let whomever you can know, if you're interested, or if you think they would be. :-)

More info is available here.

Please add your email addy if you think you should be able to make it..

does anyone know the status of La Fee Verte? I know it was just recently sold, but wasn't sure if the new management was going to have it open(or if they were going to be geek-friendly..)
